Termites The insect order Isoptera consists entirely of termites. There are more than 2,000 species worldwide, some of which can be found in all but the coldest climates. In nature, termites are considered beneficial since they help
to convert dead wood and other cellulose material to usable soil
nutrients. Conflict with humans arises only when we use wood,
the normal food supply of the termite, in settings where termites
